"Clement Herbert James Wells, founder of the Sarco Company, was born in London, England on August 15, 1874. He formed an agency in New York for the Sanders Reiders Company in 1908, to sell thermostatic steam traps and controls. At the onset of WW1 it was difficult to import these products and so he set up manufacturing, firstly with sub-contractors and eventually with their own manufacturing plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania."
