  General Notes:

Mary Ann and her first husband John Shore raised Jane (Barnard) Harris' daughter Mary Harris (Wells). Jane was Mary Ann's younger sister. The Shore's also raised Samuel Barnard and helped raise several other family members' children.

Mary Ann felt a pub (Mary Harris' father, James Harris, owned two of them) was no place to raise a young lady.

According to letters from Mary (Harris) Wells' youngest son, Eric Wells (written to Joseph Harris in 1934) Mary Ann told young Mary (Harris) stories that her Father had two families, one at each pub at each end of town.

The rumour that James Harris had a wife and mistress simultaneously begin here.

Mary married John Shore {598} [MRIN: 207] in May 1847 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England. (John Shore {598} was born about 1811 in Frome, Somerset, England, died on April 5, 1873 in Marston, Bedfordshire, England and was buried in Upton Noble Church, Bedfordshire, England.)
