**********************************************************

"In 1955, after reading that oatmeal was the first solid food eaten by President Eisenhower, since his illness, a well known Ross-Shire businessman, Mr. Jack Henderson, has sent him a pound of Black Isle oatmeal. He also sent a porridge recipe for the President's cook. In a letter he told the President that the stones used for milling the meal have been used for that purpose for over 300 years."

"You may be interested to know that a few of your fellow-countrymen get supplies from us from time to time and if you enjoy porridge and you are allowed to take it we feel sure that you will enjoy this Highland product", Mr. Henderson wrote."

"Just in case the cook is not quite sure how to make porridge in the right way, we enclose a recipe card. With our best wishes for a speedy recovery.." "It was just a little gesture", was the only comment Mr. Henderson would make to a reporter of "The Press & Journal" last night."
