John Hudson was employed as a gamekeeper for the Harpus-Crewe family of Calke Abbey at Ticknell, England.

John was born in 1819 in Shepshed, Leicestershire and died on 17th April 1894 at
aged 73. Caroline was born in 1823 and died on 18th December 1886 aged 63.
For the last 8 years their daughter Martha looked after her father at
Twyford Ferry cottage and their son Arthur took over as gamekeeper. John and
Caroline married in 1842 at Loughborough Leicestershire. Caroline's parents
were William and Martha Dexter who lived in Leicestershire and when her mum
died her father lived at Twyford Ferry cottage with the family. William died
in 1885 aged 85 - one year before his daughter.
John was a gamekeeper on the Calke estate just like his father before him.
John married Caroline Dexter, daughter of William Dexter and Martha Dexter, in 1842 in Loughborough, Leicester, England. (Caroline Dexter was born in 1823 in Disworth, Leicestershire, England and died on 18 Dec 1886 in Derbyshire, Staffordshire, England.)
