Bill owned and operated Humphries Ltd. Real Estate Company - situated for years on Danforth Road in Toronto. He founded this company in 1919.
He was born in Warkworth and was educated in British schools. During the first World War he was a Captain with the Royal Canadian Artillery Regiment.
At the time of his death he co-owned Sanford Farms in Peel County. The farm raised prize winning Shorthorn purebred cattle that was sold all over North and South America.
William married Leone Alexandra Harris, daughter of James Harris and Ada Florence Wagstaff, on 15 Nov 1939 in St. Paul's Chapel, Toronto, Ontario. (Leone Alexandra Harris was born on 6 Sep 1902 in Toronto, Ontario and died on 25 Oct 1988 in Toronto, Ontario.)
